Today was my photoshoot at smashbox! We were in studio one! There were about 9 girls, 4 hair stylists, 4 makeup artisits, 1 stylist, and 1 photographer. There was also a really cool director for the shoot and her assistant was cool too!
I arrived at 9:30 am and went straight to makeup, my makeup artists was amazing! My first look for the shoot was spring prom, so my makeup was very mat and pink. Makeup took one hour, but it was so worth it because she made me look awesome! After makeup i went to hair…which took 3 hours D:. The guy doing my hair was like, were going to do lots of curls! Even though the picture they gave him of what they wanted was NOT curls. the guy just kept brushing my hair, spraying it down with water, blow drying it and repeating. next was wardrobe where they gave me a cute brown and pink prom dress to wear! I found it funny that all of the accessories they used for the shoot were bought from forever 21! everything! from hair clips/flowers, to purses, rings, and necklaces! The pictures were only glamor shots however so it was from the shoulders up, you would never know that i was in jeans under my dress haha!
My next look for the days shoot was rock n’roll prom! Once again my makeup artist pulled through and did an awesome job, and my hair stylist sucked major balls but i ended up getting rescued by another hair stylist who fixed it the best he could despite my hair being full of product! After i was done shooting the producer came up to me and i told her how i had an aweful time with the hair stylist and how i wasnt going to be able to use any of these pictures for my book, and to make it up to me she about double my payrate and signed me to shoot for them again soon, another paying job! None the less i dont think they will be hiring that hairstylist again haha.
I got home around 6:30! Today was also my first time driving alone in ca to and from my shoot and parking! I was so proud! Off to go wash all of this hair product out of my hair and attempt to run a comb threw it! (PS if you ever get your hair done up crazy for a shoot all you have to do to get it out it to take a hot shower and put a TON of conditioner in your hair! Trust me i’ve done it a bunch of times and it saves you from damaging your hair further!)
Off to get celebratory taco bell! <3 Suzy
